Faced with an early-morning flight from Gatwick end of September, can
anyone recommend a hotel that has a 'park car for a week' facility and
from which can walk conveniently to checkin?

Many thanks!

If your flight is from South Terminal by far the easiest and most
convenient is to stay in the new Bloc hotel which is situated inside the
terminal next to the departure gate! Around £60 for the night. In
conjunction with that I use a Meet 'n' Greet parking service. I've got
9 days Meet 'n' Greet parking in June booked with FHR for £56. So total
cost around £116 for hotel and parking.

Stay anywhere else and you're bound to have transfer from hotel to
terminal costs, plus wait for their transfer bus times. Staying at Bloc
you only have to roll out of bed and walk through the departures gate.

It would be BA from N.Terminal, but there used to be a robot shuttle
train between the two terminals, so if it's still running that should
fit the bill.

Thank you, Malcolm...

Well, there's the Premier Inn at North terminal (2 minutes' walk).
Room and car for 8 days around £115.

If you mean free parking for a week, I'm not sure there are any within
sensible walking distance.

And all the roads at the airport are very pedestrian-hostile.

You'll need to find one that's a mile or two away, and pay for a
shuttlebus.
