Help with Priceline

In the last couple of years I've used Priceline.co.uk several times to book
hotels for trips to the US and more recently in the UK. I've had only good
experiences to date and saved loads of money while staying in much better
places than I could otherwise have afforded.

Friends and relatives were stunned to hear that we stayed between Christmas
& New Year in a 4* hotel in Kensington for £45 per night (around $86 US).
When I mentioned Priceline they were keen to know more but as it can be
quite a minefield knowing how to bid sensibly, I also want to point them in
the direction of a forum where they can get information about other peoples'
bids and help with bidding.

Sadly the site I've always used for my own research bans any discussion of
bids made via priceline.co.uk and the moderator became abusive when I
courteously attempted to open a discussion about the rationale for this.

So last night I google searched for bidding assistance on priceline and
found BetterBidding.com (www.betterbidding.com). It's an excellent, free
message board where people post their winning bids using Priceline and
Hotwire and reviews / pictures of the hotels they have stayed in. This
information is incredibly helpful when making your own bids. You can also
post a request for assistance with your specific travel requirements and the
moderators are very knowledgeable and friendly.

I don't have any affiliation with BetterBidding.com but I would like to see
even more posts there because that will help us all get better value for
money.

This may be admirable, but the number of posts (presumably a sign of
popularity and interest) are quite limited when compared to
Biddingfortravel.com.

The number of posts is also related to longevity of the forum.
www.betterbidding.com is growing fast and the more people that use it the
better it will be for everyone.

If you compare recent threads, the people going to BetterBidding are getting
a far more flexible, far friendlier service. If you ask for bidding
assistance you don't get yelled at and instructed to read a multitude of
rules and guidelines before you dare open your mouth again. If you start a
dialogue with the moderator your posts don't get removed. Winning bids are
acknowledged gratefully, not pounced on if the user didn't comply to the
letter with a bidding strategy or use the affiliated link. I know where I'd
rather post.

The hotel reviews section is smaller but well organised and getting better
all the time. And TripAdvisor beats either site for hotel reviews anyway so
I don't consider that area the selling point of either site.

As noted....better bidding pales in comparison with www.biddingfortravel.com
. I have no association with either, but have never found anything useful
at bb, while bft seems more comprehensive.

Give www.betterbidding.com time - it's catching up fast. Abusing people only
alienates them in the long run.

Especially with you shilling for them. I notice the
ONLY thing you post about is better bidding.

Abusing people only alienates them in the long run.
Misrepresenting ones self might have a similar effect as well.

Yes I do have an interest in spreading the word about the excellent
www.betterbidding.com. But only because it is a good resource and the more
posts on that site, the more information there will be to ultimately help me
and fellow travellers obtain better savings travel and hotel accomodation.

If you're implying I have some kind of affiliation with
www.betterbidding.com I can only assure you that I don't. I discovered and
joined that site only 2 days ago. I went looking for a travel bidding
message board as a direct result of being rudely dismissed by the moderator
of biddingfortravel. Plus the fact that no discussion of priceline.co.uk
bidding is allowed there so I can't contribute to that site. I've often
researched using BFT in the past but I am not prepared to recommend that
site to my friends & relatives and have them subjected to similar treatment.

I am now grateful to Sheryl Mexic for the abuse she dished out to me. If she
hadn't I wouldn't have googled her or seen the hilarious threads documenting
the famous sushi battle with Connie Wong :D
